I passed out the information for the Book Report to the kiddos today. It will be due on 12/20/18. For the report, part of the assignment is going to the library and choosing a library book. I am attaching the instructions to this email, please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you all so much for the decorations I have received so far. I love them all and just LOVE how jolly our room is becoming! Our character trait this month was Citizenship, which is being law abiding and involved in service to school, community and country. Congratulations to Bailey for being a model citizen and earning the Character of the Month award. Bravo! Our Student of the Month award for November goes to Carson. Way to go! Weekly Curriculum · In Language Arts we finished reading the text called The Year of Miss Agnes. They really enjoyed it! We will be reading another text called The Frog Princess and comparing the stories. · In Math we are finishing up Topic 3, which we have been learning more factors to build on our multiplication skills. We will have a test on the topic onThursday, December 6th. · In Science we will start to look at Living Things and Their Environments. We have been looking at how to classify plants and we will be starting to look at classifying animals. · In Writing we are continuing to work on our introductions as well as adding details to the bodies of our writing. · In Social Studies we will look at the early explorers who came explored our nation. A Few Reminders and Dates to Remember · Every Tuesday: Pizza money due. $2 per slice. · Every Friday: Ice cream day, $1. · December 4-7: Holiday Shoppe · December 18: Holiday Performance 1:30 in St. Alfred's Episcopal Sanctuary · December 22-January 7: Winter Break As a reminder, please remember to pack only healthy snacks and water for your child’s snack time. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving resting and enjoying time with family. I know I did! I am very excited to see my kiddos tomorrow though! We are going to review our classroom rules and expectations and then jump right back into it. We have 4 weeks left in the second quarter and until our Winter Break. Lots of work to do! I LOVE to decorate for the holidays, and would LOVE some decoration donations :) If you have any you would like to donate to decorate for the upcoming holidays, I would GREATLY appreciate it! Happy Monday! I am very much looking forward to our feast on Thursday!! Please note I will not have the ability to heat things up so keep that in mind. So far everything signed up for looks great! You are more than welcome to join us, however remember you need to be Level 2 to be able to come into the school. Looking forward to feasting with the kiddos! Music update by Mr. Meeks: This week we have been working hard on getting ready for the upcoming winter program on December 18. Students have been learning their music and becoming better singers. We are also continuing to learn our recorder notes, so please make sure that your child has a recorder. If they need to purchase one, they are still available for a cost of $5 cash. Can you believe we are in November already? Only 2 weeks until break!! The kiddos have had a fun couple of days! They were wonderful for the subs while I was out. They also have had a LOT of sugar this week, with Halloween, Jupiter Donuts, Ice Cream, ETC. Hopefully we are all back to normal eating habits next week :) We have started our Food Drive, and it is a competition!! PLEASE bring in any canned food items, nonperishable items, diapers, paper products, and/or toiletries. We could win a pizza party! Let's do this :) Thank you to everyone who came in for a conference. I enjoyed meeting with you guys and discussing your kiddo's progress. If you ever want to talk or meet with me, please let me know! I am always here for you guys. We will have a Topic 2 Test on Friday, November 9th. So make sure to review :) · In Science we will finish up studying plants. · In Writing we will use strong details in order to make our writing more meaningful. · In Social Studies we will look at Our Environment and how we use our Earth's resources. Music update by Mr. Meeks: This week we have been working on recorder and learning songs for the winter program. Please make sure that your child brings his/her recorder to school on the days they have music. Starting in November it will affect their grade in music class. First grade and Kindergarten are working on recorder notes and learning the songs for the winter program. Second grade is composing a tune to the poem “Twas the Night Before Christmas”, and third grade is hard at work learning a song on handbells.
