9/29/2017 0 Comments Conference Time!Hello 2nd Grade families!
It is that time of year where we begin our conferences. This is a time for us to sit together face to face and discuss your child's progress. Please use the Sign Up Genius link below to sign up for a 15 minute time slot for us to meet. If there is not a day or time listed that will work for you, please email me and we will work to find a date and time that works best for you. Let me know if you have any questions at all. As always, thank you for all you do to support our class! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/508054eaaa623a7ff2-beginning Hurricane Maria: We are proud to announce that Plato Academy Trinity, in conjunction with our sister schools, will be supporting the Hurricane Maria Relief Campaign by partnering with #caringforpuertorico! The island of Puerto Rico has been completely devastated and it will take months, if not years for the island to get back to operational. When their school system is ready, we would like to coordinate a school supply drive to assist their students, families and their schools with a bit of a jump start. In the meantime, we still have the ability to make a difference by donating any of the supplies listed in Mrs. Perez's previous email. Please let me know if you have any questions. Y ou may begin dropping off your donations to the front office tomorrow morning through Monday, October 2nd. Here is a peek at next week! Reading: We will keep reading our informational text called Friends Around The World. We will start looking for key details to help us as readers understand the author's main topic. Writing: We will continue a writing workshop focused on sentence structure and paragraph formation. Math: We are starting a new topic! We will be working on adding within 100 using different strategies. Science: We are continuing out unit on Our Earth. This week we will take a look at the Earth's resources and how we use them. Social Studies: We will be spending time this week talking about history and time! We will learn about what history is as well as the history of time. We will take a look at calendars, how they came to be and how we use them today. A few reminders - -Please bring a filled water bottle. -I would suggest having your kids bring a Plato approved sweater or jacket, it tends to get a little chilly in our room! -If you are not buying a school lunch please bring a full lunch. Everyone should also bring a snack for our Morning Snack. -Remember your placards for dismissal, we are not able to release your child without them. If you do not have it, please come in and show ID to Ms. Riley so we can release your child to you. -Please remember to bring your V.A.C.A.T.I.O.N.folders every day. As Hurricane Irma draws near, I hope and pray all of you remain safe. I will keep everyone updated on school for next week, but for now I want your only concern to be the safety of you and your families. I did not hand out homework on Thursday, as I want you all to focus on your hurricane preparations. When we return I will assign something short. Please feel free to work on the math that was not highlighted from the previous week if you would like to work on something. There is no school on Monday. Pasco County will continue to monitor the situation and we will keep everyone informed about school on Tuesday. Here is a peek at next week!
