9/10/2018 0 Comments Growth Mindset!Hello families,
I hope everyone had a nice, restful weekend! Last week we had a discussion on the importance of having a growth mindset. When we have a growth mindset, we believe that our abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work. We will be continuing the have these discussions over the next few weeks. I am attaching a parent guide for you to help guide the discussions at home with your kiddo. We are doing hard stuff in 3rd grade. I want to encourage them that they are going to succeed with hard work, even though it may seem difficult right now. Please let me know if you have any questions about this concept! :) I sent home the tests and quizzes we have take the last 2 weeks (minus the math test I am still grading). Please review it, sign it, and return to me. And please let me know if you have any questions. If you can please make sure to check and sign your child's planner, that would be amazing! I want to make sure you are in the loop. I am putting a lot of responsibility on the kids to make sure they update their planners appropriately and I want to make sure you are aware of any important reminders or homework. Thank you in advance. Weekly Curriculum -In Language Arts we will describe characters in our stories and will be explain how their actions contribute to the sequence of events and comparing different texts we have read. -In Math we will work on fluently adding and subtracting within 1,000. -In Science we will study the universe and looking more closely at the sun. -In Writing we will learn how to describe story elements through narrative writing. -In Social Studies we will define terms related to social sciences (history, geography, civics, government and economics). We are also looking at primary and secondary sources. A Few Reminders and Dates to Remember Friday, September 14th: Spelling test, Reading Log and Spelling homework due (3 assignments from the choices provided on the yellow paper).
