2/2/2018 0 Comments Hello February <3Happy February!
January came and went and we are now in the month of February! Time is flying by, and I can't believe we are closer to being 3rd graders. I will continue to push your kiddos to be ready for the next level. I appreciate your constant support! Please do not hesitate to reach out to me about any questions or concerns. LearnBoost I want to do better with my communication, especially with grades. I will be using a new program called LearnBoost. I will use it to manage the classroom and would love to keep you in the loop! Once you register you will be able to view your child's grades, track attendance, contact me (in another way), and much more! I will be sending home a packet with the access codes you need to register. Please let me know if you have any questions! Valentine's Day Valentine's Day is quickly approaching! Please keep an eye out for information on our Valentine's Day Card exchange and party. :) I will send out a letter, box project and name list. YEARBOOK The 2nd Edition of the Plato Academy Trinity Yearbook is on sale now! The 2017-2018 Yearbook will be about 50 pages in length and the cost is $35, which INCLUDES your child’s name, personalized on the bottom right hand corner of the Yearbook. We encourage parents and business owners to advertise in our book. Parents can either purchase a LOVELINE DEDICATION (50 words or less, including spaces; no picture) or BUSINESS advertisements as well. We are hopeful that advertising in our Plato yearbook will help to grow your business by keeping it in the family. Please know all yearbook orders, the yearbook dedications and/or the business advertisements are due back by Friday, February 23, 2018 to the front office. (forms have been emailed and are available on our website). Please continue to take photos of events (field trips, class activities or parties) and email them to Kiria Angela at http://[email protected] or Mrs. Holden @ [email protected]or copy onto a disc and return to school. It would be great help if you can label them and/or edit them for quality. All yearbook orders may be placed at https://yearbookordercenter.com and our school’s code is 15089. The ONLY method to order and make a payment is ONLINE. Yearbook orders are due by March 2, 2018. Again, thank you in advance for your support. Character Counts Monthly, students will learn about a new character trait. At the end of each month, one student from each classroom, whose behavior exemplifies the Character Trait of the Month, will be awarded a certificate and invited to the Character Breakfast with Mrs. Perez! It is Plato Academy’s expectation that as we continue to emphasize positive character traits we will only continue to improve. Congratulations to the following students that were nominated for the Student of the Month/Character Counts for the month of January: Mrs. Stoddard’s Class: Nicholas Malacos Ms. Lanham’s Class: Nikolas Intzes Mrs. Holden’s Class: Carl Sidarous Mrs. Paasch’s Class: Anyah Blackwood February's character trait is Tolerance: Respecting the individual differences, views, and beliefs of other people. In Greek... Congratulations to Annie for being Greek Student of the Week! Please check out Kiria Angela's website to see what your child is learning as well as some helpful links to help you work at home. https://intzesa.weebly.com/ In Music... This week in music we have been learning new notes on recorder with the younger ones and working on playing in groups. We have also been working on rhythm and learning the letter names for each note on the music staff. Our singing is getting much better, and 3rd graders are up to 5 notes in the solfege singing. Parents, please make sure your child has a recorder. We play every week in music class, and if they do not have a recorder it affects their grade. I ordered more recorders this Wednesday, so please feel free to send the $5 in cash to purchase your child’s recorder if they need one. Music listened to in class: “Pictures at an Exhibition” Modest Mussorgsky, “You Can’t Touch This” MC Hammer Mrs. Holden's Classroom Expectations 1. Follow directions the first time they are given. 2. Be respectful. 3. Be honest. 4. Stay on task. 5. Listen to ALL directions. 6. Do the right thing (even if no one is watching). 7. Be on the look out for a fun biography project next week! Writing: We have been working on subjects and predicates and really focusing on how to make our sentences make sense. We will continue to work on this as we form sentences to form paragraphs. The students really enjoy the song we have learned to help us understand subjects and predicates.:) Math: We will continue to work on our topic that will focus on solving problems involving addition and subtraction. I will focus on 2-step problems with them, to help them understand how to pull the correct information from word problems to solve. We have talked about the first four presidents so far! They really enjoy learning about our founding fathers :) A few reminders - -Please bring a filled water bottle. -I would suggest having your kids bring a Plato approved sweater or jacket, it tends to get a little chilly in our room! -If you are not buying a school lunch please bring a full lunch. Everyone should also bring a snack for our Morning Snack. -Remember your placards for dismissal, we are not able to release your child without them.
